In 1952, Mr. and Mrs. Ewing (Doc) Mell left 18.5 acres to the Grover Hill Lions Club. This land came to be known as Grover Hill Welcome Park. We are privileged to have such a great landmark in our community where we can gather as family to enjoy the sport of ball, as well as many other activities.
Over the years, Grover Hill Lions Club, Grover Hill Park Boosters, Grover Hill Ball Association and many other community members have been faithful stewards providing for the general operation, maintenance and improvements in the park. Most recent are the new restroom facilities. Much is to be done, including new light poles, replanting of several trees damaged by the storm, improvements to the pavilion and replacement of the old tractor mower. Adding to these needs is the annual cost of operating the park, which now exceeds $12,500.00.
A Grover Hill Park Endowment Fund has been established through the Paulding County Area Foundation for the long term benefit of the park. We have set a goal to raise $250,000.00 over the next 3 to 5 years. Annual earnings from the fund will be gifted back, while the principal balance will provide an ever-lasting gift to Grover Hill Welcome Park.
At the present, we have $53,050.00 in pledged gifts. The outcome is to preserve the park for future generations. This dream can become a reality by your thoughtful giving over the next several years.
